June/July 2026
Greetings First Presbyterian Family,
The other day, I heard about a couple who toasted each other on January 1 and July 1. In the summer, they would say, “We made it to July, we can make it to January.” Come New Year’s Day, they would say, “We made it to January, we can make it to July.” There is wisdom in taking life one season at a time.
July is our sabbatical month. Only the Christian Education Committee will meet, and I encourage everyone to use this time for a midyear review. Take this season to reflect, ponder, rest, and simply enjoy the slower pace of summer.
This newsletter covers both June and July, two distinct periods in our church calendar. June is filled with activity as we prepare for the Youth Mission Trip and conclude with Vacation Bible School. School may be out, but we end the program year with energy and joy. Whether or not you attend a class, I encourage you to come and enjoy the fellowship and meals each evening. June offers a gentle conclusion to the season, while July provides a gentle beginning—or perhaps a gentle pause—before our routines resume in August.
The 250th Anniversary celebration this July offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our shared history and give thanks for the many blessings that have shaped our nation and communities. We honor the past while prayerfully looking toward the future God has prepared. Some parts of our history fill us with pride, while others invite reflection and remind us of the work still before us. As people of faith, we recognize the importance of courage, sacrifice, compassion, and prayer throughout every generation. May this special occasion renew our sense of gratitude and inspire us to continue building a hopeful and faithful future together
With gratitude,
Jones Doughton
