Our Story
March 27, 1881
Fifteen charter members organized our church. The first pastor was Rev. George Blewett who, eleven years before, had organized what is now the First Presbyterian Church of Richardson. He traveled to Mesquite twice a month on horseback to minister to the small congregation here, spending two nights and then traveling back to his home in Richardson on Monday.
1884
A one-room wooden frame church was built, facing what is now Davis Street. Later, a small room was added for the children’s class room. Still later, a wooden fence was built around the church to keep the cows out of the church yard.
1950’s
Plans began for a new church at a new location. Our present building was dedicated on March 9, 1958.
1991
A new building was completed which gave us additional classrooms and a larger kitchen and fellowship hall.
2009
A historical marker was awarded to celebrate our long-standing achievements in the community.
